B O W L I N G VIDEOCART(TM) 21 ================= F A I R C H I L D ================= On Your Mark Challenge a friend or try to beat your own high game with this Videocart(TM) cartridge. Get Set Insert the cartridge into your unit with the edge label toward you and the top label facing up. Press the RESET button. A bowling lane with a G? will appear on the screen. Go Select the type of game and number of players by pressing the appropriate button: Button 1--One player, Regular Game Button 2--Two players, Regular Game Button 3--One player, Split Game Button 4--Two players, Split Game Next an S? will appear on the screen requesting selection of speed of play. Button 1--slow Button 2--normal Button 3--fast Button 4--fastest After 10 seconds, if you have not selected a speed, the computer automatically selects the one-player, regular game at the slow speed and starts to play by itself. If you want to play, make a movement with either hand controller to return control to you. THE GAME For one player, only the red player on the left of the screen is active. For two players, the blue player on the right of the screen is also active. Frames are marked at the top of the screen, with standard bowling symbols: - Open frame X Strike / Spare Frames not yet scored are written in green and change to the player's color when the total pins are included in the score. HOW THE HAND CONTROLLERS WORK For the one-player version, use the right handcontroller to move the red player. For the two-player games, also use the left handcontroller to move the blue player. Use the handcontroller to control ball movement down the lane. Push forward to release ball. Push left to start the ball curving left. Push right to start the ball curving right. Push down to play another game. Before being released, the ball moves back and forth across the front of the lane. Push forward when the ball is at the lane position you desire and push left or right to curve the ball left or right. Once you have started a curve, you cannot change it. Regular Game The Regular Game follows normal bowling procedure. Each frame begins with 10 pins standing. Split Game In the Split Game, each frame starts with some combination of less than 10 pins. You have two balls to knock down the remaining pins.
